What Warhammer gift is worth buying for under £50?
Under £50 you can buy one complete first box: the Age of Sigmar Introductory Set at £34.76, with 25 push-fit models, a mat, dice, a brush and six paints. If you know their army, buy one unit of it (a single boxed kit) plus a tool instead. If you know the army but cannot check what they own, skip the unit and buy one character model, which is the lower-risk single kit.

The 10th Edition note
The Warhammer 40,000 Introductory Set on our shelf is a 10th Edition box. The game is now on its 11th edition. The box still has the models and paints, but the handbook teaches the older rules. Buy it for someone who wants the models, or check with the player who will teach them. For a rules-ready sci-fi start you need an 11th Edition box, and those cost more than this budget: the Starter Set is £126.40, and gifts under £100 has the cheaper Getting Started boxes.
The Age of Sigmar set is the cleaner gift at this price. It holds two forces and a mat, so two people can play, and it needs no glue.
One unit plus a tool
A single kit is the right shape for a gift under £50 when you know the army. The tool means they can start building straight away. A knife or the mouldline remover fits the budget (see the gift page for people with an army).
Check the unit against what they own. Players build armies to a plan, and a unit that does not fit it will not be built. If you cannot check, a single character model is the lower-risk kit. Do not split the money across lots of small items.

Common questions
Is there a Warhammer 40,000 box that costs less than £50?
The Introductory Set for Warhammer 40,000 is £33.58, but it is a 10th Edition box and the game is now on its 11th edition. The 11th Edition Starter Set is £126.40.
Is one Warhammer unit a good gift?
Only if you know the army and can check what they own. A single character model is the safer kit. Add a tool so they can start straight away.
Do I need glue for a Warhammer Introductory Set?
Not for the Age of Sigmar one: its models push together. The 10th Edition 40,000 set says some assembly may be required and lists clippers, so check the listing before you buy.
