Spending less on a first army
If the person you'll play already has an army, you only need one side: a single Combat Patrol costs less than the Starter Set, which holds two. If you just want to try the hobby, the Warhammer 40,000 Introductory Set costs less still, but it's the 10th Edition box; the Starter Set and Getting Started boxes are 11th Edition. Check the edition when you compare prices.
