Aeldari or Aeldari Corsairs Combat Patrol: which should you start with?
Both boxes start the same army, because Corsairs are part of the Aeldari army. Combat Patrol: Aeldari Corsairs brings a transport and fast skirmishers. Combat Patrol: Aeldari is a small elite force of Wraithblades, Dire Avengers and Warp Spiders.
Both boxes cost £86.11. The cards below show the stock for each.
The two boxes side by side
| Combat Patrol: Aeldari | Combat Patrol: Aeldari Corsairs | |
|---|---|---|
| Led by | The Spiritseer Kygharil, with Wraithblades | Kharseth the Void Dreamer |
| Troops | Two units of Dire Avengers | 10 Corsair Voidreavers |
| Fast units | Warp Spiders | 5 Corsair Skyreavers |
| Transport | None in Games Workshop's description | A Wave Serpent |
The Voidreavers can be built as the specialised Corsair Voidscarred.
Corsairs are an Aeldari detachment
The Xenos Faction Packs article of 9 June 2026 files Corsair Coterie under Aeldari, as a detachment (a set of army rules) like Warhost, Guardian Battlehost and Aspect Host. So the Corsairs box starts the Aeldari army and is not a separate one.
What should decide it
- A vehicle. The Corsairs box has a Wave Serpent, and Games Workshop's description of the Aeldari box mentions none.
- A ready palette. For the Aeldari box, a Craftworld force, Games Workshop suggests the red and white of the Saim-Hann craftworld, so the paint plan is already set.
- Kill Team. Games Workshop says the Corsairs box holds the miniatures for a full kill team.
Building the Corsairs box from single kits
The four named units of the Corsairs box are also sold separately here: Kharseth (sold out at the moment), Corsair Voidreavers (sold out at the moment), a Wave Serpent (in stock) and Corsair Skyreavers (in stock). Bought one by one they come to £120.88, against £82.95 for the box.
Common questions
Are Aeldari Corsairs a separate army?
Corsairs are part of the Aeldari army, not a separate one. Corsair Coterie is an Aeldari detachment in the Xenos Faction Packs of 9 June 2026, so Corsair units sit in the same faction as the Craftworld ones.
Which Aeldari Combat Patrol should I start with?
Take Combat Patrol: Aeldari Corsairs if you want a Wave Serpent and fast skirmishers in the box. Take Combat Patrol: Aeldari, the Craftworld box, for elite foot troops and a ready red and white colour scheme.
What comes in Combat Patrol: Aeldari Corsairs?
Kharseth the Void Dreamer, a squad of 10 Corsair Voidreavers, a Wave Serpent and five Corsair Skyreavers. Games Workshop says the Voidreavers can be built as Corsair Voidscarred.
