Leagues of Votann: what to buy first, and where Hearthkyn Salvagers fit
Start Leagues of Votann with Combat Patrol: Leagues of Votann. It holds an Einhyr Champion, 5 Einhyr Hearthguard, 10 Hearthkyn Warriors and 3 Brôkhyr Thunderkyn, and costs £86.11 (sold out at the moment).
Hearthkyn Salvagers is a Kill Team box of 10 built from Hearthkyn Warrior parts. Its models also work as Votann troops in Warhammer 40,000, but it is not a starter army.
What is in the Combat Patrol
Games Workshop described the box in August 2025 like this:
- Einhyr Champion: the leader, a melee fighter with a hammer.
- 5 Einhyr Hearthguard: elite bodyguards who fight at any range.
- 10 Hearthkyn Warriors: the troops, who can split into two units of five.
- 3 Brôkhyr Thunderkyn: the long-range support, with big beamers.
The four units are also sold as single kits here, so you can build the same force one kit at a time. The Hearthkyn Warriors kit is £31.21 and is sold out at the moment.
Where Hearthkyn Salvagers fit
Hearthkyn Salvagers is a Kill Team set. Games Workshop described it in 2023 as 10 specialists who combine Hearthkyn Warrior miniatures with a packed upgrade sprue. It said the box brings the HYLas rotary cannon to games of Warhammer 40,000.
| Your goal | Buy | Our price |
|---|---|---|
| A Votann army for 40,000 | The Combat Patrol | £86.11 |
| Kill Team, and a few Votann extras | Kill Team: Hearthkyn Salvagers | £33.58 |
| More Votann troops for either game | Hearthkyn Warriors | £31.21 |
Is the army still being supported?
Games Workshop's articles say yes. A new Codex, the army's rules book, and six new kits were announced in July 2025. A Faction Focus article on 27 May 2026 called the Leagues of Votann the newest faction in Warhammer 40,000 and showed three new detachments, which are sets of army rules, for the 11th edition. The Faction Packs article for the alien ("xenos") armies, on 9 June 2026, lists ten Votann detachments in all.
The range here is small: we list 16 Votann kits, and 1 of them can be ordered now.
Games Workshop's suggested next kits
Games Workshop's own suggestions in August 2025 were Cthonian Beserks for melee, Ironkin Steeljacks as tough troops, the character Buri Aegnirssen, Hernkyn Pioneers on bikes and the Sagitaur transport. The 11th edition Faction Focus built a detachment around the Sagitaur and another around the Hearthguard. The Hearthguard are already in the box, so the Sagitaur (£34.76, sold out at the moment) is the likeliest next buy, in our view. Berehk Stornbrow, at £23.70, is a further Votann kit we list and is in stock.
